See What Our Parents Have To Say

We love 'Autism Support UK'. Our two boys have benefited so much from their time there. The bond my boys had with their tutors was beautiful! My eldest tolerates intensive interaction a lot more and settled in a new environment with new people. My husband had his first PECs exchange with our youngest - FANTASTIC. The support, understanding, energy, knowledge, enthusiasm and organizational skills is second to none.

The friendships I've made with other parents will be lifelong. Everyone in our position needs the opportunity to experience what ASUK provide. The quality of the volunteers is amazing. Everyone has a smile for you and it's infectious. 10/10 A+++++

At the start of the ASUK programme in September he struggled with functional skills such as putting on his coat, socks e.t.c. but by November he learnt those skills this was made possible thanks to the lectures, imitation skills in the course of the programme also the amazing tips also shared by fellow parents went a long way.

Secondly, he was able to participate with other children on stage during the school Christmas carol without running off the stage to do his own agenda.

Thirdly, He’s become more confident of himself and has started using words at school to request for things. Fourthly, he’s received two awards both bronze and silver super hero reading achievers award this was made possible due to confidence building from attending the programme I personally have enjoyed every lecture they were well tailored to my specific needs and also cut across every area that i struggled with regarding my son and provided the solutions required, it did give me hope and a sense direction regarding his future and this has helped with planning and given a structure towards achieving set out milestones and goals for my son.

My experience with other fellow parents was awesome, their shared experiences gave me hope and some form of comfort. It made me realize that isolation we felt regarding raising our son was never a burden to bear alone and that help was available. I have come to understand that there is light at the end of the every tunnel when you have friends like Autism support UK.

It was the best idea for me and my child to attend Saturday school with Autism support Uk. I have learned exactly the things I needed to know about Aba therapy and from where to start in order to provide to my son a better and happy life. Karim enjoyed every moment spent in Saturday school with everybody but more with his tutor Liz who was amazing with him. He make such a big progress and I'm very grateful to all of you.

It was my only chance as a parent to learn many things about Autism from all the people that you invite, It was a great experience that I couldnt have it somewhere else. I met parents that are in same situation like me and was a great opportunity of sharing our ideeas and thoughts, our concerns and needs. Autism support Uk "OPENED MY EYES"..gave me hope and power to go on ,gave me best ideas and teach me from where to start and what to do next. Was the best experience ever!!!

We didn't know what to expect from ASUK Saturday club when we first started, but it has turned out to be a really fantastic experience. We are sad that it was only 12 weeks! Tom is non-verbal and has very strong autism, his barriers do come down with people he knows well and trusts and he developed this bond and trust very quickly with his therapist. They played and had fun and developed a lot of communication.

Tom started using Pecs at school, but they have never managed to get him to use a pecs symbol to show that he needed to go to the toilet, but he started using the toilet symbol with his therapist - this may sound like a small thing, but small breakthroughs in communication and requests are a huge deal for Tom and his family! He was using lots of other symbols as well and having a lot of fun in the process! We have decided to proceed and recruit an ABA therapist as we now feel that it will work for Tom. As a parent I have absolutely loved being a part of it all. The time that Tom spent having fun with his therapist I met other parents and had a cuppa.

From this group I have met some wonderful people who have quickly become friends. It's amazing and reassuring to meet other people who are going through the same situation! We all shared so much helpful information over the 12 weeks and we will all be meeting up regularly now that it's finished. The talks were really informative and helpful, especially the talks about setting up ABA funding and navigating the tribunal process. I will be using this information in the future. Overall, this has been a fantastic experience for both of us! Thank you so much to everyone at ASUK! X

I found out about ASUK through a random google search and I am so glad I signed up despite being put on initially on the long waiting list!

It has been an incredible life changing experience, and I don't mean this lightly. We as a family had no introduction to ABA before and were following advice we receive from NHS, nurseries, parent groups etc. All of which were random and when they did not work, we as parents felt guilty that perhaps we are not doing the right things.

This changed dramatically starting the first day at ASUK. A tailored program was designed for Saarim which targeted key areas. What followed was immense dedication from the volunteers and staff at ASUK to help support Saarim with his targets and keeping us up to speed with his progress.

We always engaged with them and always found the interactions friendly, helpful and thought provoking. The other very important aspect of the experience was the incredible talks. These gave us hope that there are things out there which can help our kids improve, things we did not know existed!

Our knowledge has increased so much through these and there was a general sense of positivity after every talk. Some thing that is hard to get when you are going through so much on a day to day basis.

Linzi and Kirsty are absolutely amazing in their enthusiasm and support that they provide on a weekly basis. I have picked their brains on several occasions, even outside the Saturday School now and have always found them approachable, friendly and supportive.

We asked if Saarim's birthday could be celebrated during one of the sessions and were blown away with the enthusiasm that was shown by the team. Saarim really enjoyed his birthday and we were extremely pleased with the way it was organised.

The same goes for all the staff members and volunteers that put in an incredible effort to keep the whole cohort moving, I don't have one negative comment about a single person.

The other very important aspect of our Saturdays was interaction with the parents. It was great to share experiences and frustrations with each other and know that we are not alone, and also importantly what solutions other parents found that worked for them, or not. Made some good friends during the process with whom I intend to stay in touch going forward. Overall, I can't praise the support enough as it was just incredible.

If only it can go on throughout the year! I would highly recommend other parents to join the sessions. I am absolutely certain that the ASUK team is bound to grow bigger and do more incredible things.

I wish them all the very best and hope I can see them again in the next cohort :)

Before autism support uk I felt isolated and alone no one seemed to understand my daily struggles. That changed with immediate effect my child found a place where he just fitted in and then targets were set and my child grew in confidence. By the end of the 12 week program my child wanted everyday a Saturday school day. This service has been priceless. The best thing to happen for George was knowing he was safe and making a real friend was a big bonus. For me it was being around professionals that just got his ways and worked with that not changing him but supporting him, listening and making adjustments when required. Meeting parents that don't judge or compete but share and pick each other up. Autism support uk brings everyone together and makes a big family. The talks are well thought out and allow parents to access valuable information at no or low cost which couldn't be accessed. Being able to have a cuppa without worrying because you know your child is happily entertaining their tutor without any anxiety and is going to return without a meltdown makes it the best cuppa!!!

We had a wonderful experience at Saturday ABA school organised by Autism Support UK . I think all the people working for AS-UK are very special . They are very nice kind and loving to our children . They are very positive and caring as like a family member. They actually owned our children. It was a great pleasure for me and my family especially my son to participate in the programme. My son enjoyed going out there . He learnt a lot. He made good progress. I learnt hugely from talks and lectures especially talks on different strategies used in ABA, talking tools, talk by Solicitor Fiona and Joanne the OT. I would say whole series was highly beneficial. I learnt more in this programme than I did in last 4 years when my son was diagnosed with Autism. I congratulate Autism Support UK especially Linzi to organise and manage such an excellent programme. It gives us a chance to socialise with other parents and share common problems. I wish every success in future events.

It has been an absolute pleasure and inspiration to attend the Saturday school with our daughter Eirinn . Eirinn has been set up for success every step of the way on her learning journey . Most importantly she is now learning to learn and enjoy it . The creativity and open minded approach of Autism support Uk has led to the progress Eirinn has achieved and set the bench mark for her future learning journey . The professionalism , empathy and support from the volunteers and therapists has been beyond compare and beyond reproach . To attend each Saturday with these amazeing inspiring people has given us as a family the inspiration and motivation to keep on going when times have been extremely tough . We feel that we are supported as a whole family and actually listend to and totally involved in everything . The talks have been very benificial and helpful . I feel I have learned a great deal every saturday we walk through the doors to spend time with the best of best . No where else have we ever had such support that has made such a huge and profound difference to our and most importantly Eirinns life and independence . We feel we have made friends and a village of support around our daughter for life .

Autism support uk's ABA therapy Saturday school is absolutely brilliant. It gives parents and carers a chance to see what ABA is all about and how it helps their children. The talks they put on are very informative. With the school itself I found that my twin girls (both diagnosed with autism) absolutely brilliant. I found they both made progress in different areas and definitely a therapy I would recommend any one with autism to try.Claire Hill,

Grace has loved Saturday school and progressed so well with all her targets thanks to the team working with her. Graces older sister also has ASD but not formally diagnosed yet and she has loved the sibling activities. To summarise how good this has been for us - neither of our girls have ever visited Santa because they are absolutely terrified of dressed up people in hats wigs etc but thanks to AS UK we have photos of the girls receiving gifts from Santa!! Alex's talk and OT talk found particularly useful and most relevant to our circumstances. Great to meet others and share experiences. Graces ABA was great with Grace and really understood what makes our daughter tick and so she got the best out of her. I also had the opportunity to see a friends child progress and grow in confidence with social skills over the twelve weeks - lovely to see and to get to know him better.
