Hi I’m Abbie Williams, I am a room leader at Autism Support UK. My roles include overseeing individualised targets for six children and their parents, supporting my assistant room leader and providing a lesson plan each week.
This will be my fifth cohort with ASUK and I have loved being part of ASUK from my very first day. I started off as a trainee tutor and after my second cohort, I became an assistant room leader, this cohort I have been promoted to a room leader.
I am really looking forward to taking on my new role, furthering my own knowledge and advising other tutors and parents. I will provide a secure and safe environment where the children can engage in exciting and fun activities while learning skills set out by our Behaviour team.
I am currently in the third year of my Education Studies Degree, where my dissertation is based on ABA in schools.
I am also a volunteer in two primary schools, where my experience at ASUK has helped me at the schools as I have worked with several children with ASC in mainstream education. I have also been able to pass on my experience of ABA to enhance other teacher’s knowledge to provide a rich learning environment. In September I am starting a teacher training degree, I am looking forward to being able to use my knowledge in ABA and help adapt classrooms to become more inclusive. I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge and helping others this cohort. See you soon.
