Hello, my name is Barbara and I am the new Behaviour Supervisor at 'Autism Support UK'.
My role consists in undertaking assessment and designing personalised behaviour intervention plans for 12 children attending our second intake as well as providing ongoing training and supervision to Room Leads, Assistants and Tutors working 1:1.
I am a qualified Psychologist with over five years of experience working first as an ABA Therapist and more recently as a Lead Tutor with children in the autistic spectrum and their families.
Since 2011 I have been supporting disabled children covering different roles and across all settings. I am trained in the application of behaviour analytic principles and I successfully satisfied the training requirements to become a Registered Behaviour Technician. I have extensive experience of implementing home and school based ABA programmes for children of different age and ability levels and I am responsible of training and providing ongoing support to junior tutors.
As a Psychologist I have experience of assessing and designing neuropsychological and behavioural intervention plans for children with brain injury, training staff, providing parenting support and liaising with different agencies involved in the care of vulnerable people. Also in my role as a Psychologist I use ABA principles and techniques to support children with behaviour, communication and social difficulties.
I am driven by a genuine passion for my job and I believe that each and every child deserves the best chance in life. This is why I decided to volunteer for AS-UK as a Room Lead in the previous intake. Now I have been honoured with the opportunity of becoming a Behaviour Supervisor. Being aware that my work is making a real difference in a child's life is the most rewarding feeling a professional can experience; this motivates me to work everyday at the best of my abilities to help every child to reach their full potential.
