Victoria Fidler

Hi I’m Vicky and I’m our playroom manager.

The playroom is a special place just for siblings. It’s my role to create a happy environment for the children while their brother or sister is in therapy and the parents relax and have child free time or while they attend talks or receive much needed parent support. I create a safe fun and nurturing environment for the children that join us in our playroom. I have 2-3 volunteer playroom assistants that help me and all have childcare experience, I am responsible for making sure the playroom runs smoothly and all children are happy and content.

I have worked with children for 12 years in several roles and in a range of settings from education settings, therapy and in the family home. I have a good level of childcare experience, Nvq level 3 caring for children and young people, I also have training in British sign language level 2 and I am Paediatric First aid trained. I have also attended many other training courses including picture exchange communications system, supporting families in distress and managing challenging behaviour.

I also have 2 children only 13 months apart in age one has autism and Joubert’s syndrome this has helped me with my career as I am not only a professional I’m aware of the parent’s perspective.]

I’ve seen the fantastic results of Applied Behaviour Analysis and its massive success I’m so happy to be working for Autism Support UK and feel my role in the playroom is an important one supporting and creating a fantastic fun time with the siblings of those with Autism.
