Hi I'm Emily and I am the Sibling Manager at Autism Support UK. As I have been involved in the past 2 cohorts, AS-UK has grown close to my heart.
I have a passion in helping those around me and put this towards supporting AS-UK and the siblings of those cildren who are on the course. I started off as a volunteer as a tutor and then being promoted to assistant room leader and now to the Sibling Room Manager.
I love working at AS-UK because I enjoy working with children and I love to put my fun and loving personality into supporting children in a fun way.
Currently, I am studying for a BTEC in children's play, learning and development at college. I am keen to put the knowledge that I have gained to provide a fun but supportive environment for the children.
Throughout the past 2 cohorts my passion to work with AS-UK has only grown, seeing the progress that the children make each week really gives you pride and the drive to keep going. The bond you gain from both parent and child is special and that is why I really put my all into this organisation.
I provide support to children in the sibling room, parents love having childcare for their other children while they are working hard learning how to support their child with autism, we get lots of lovely comments on how the siblings have learned to share and it has been noticed in their schools and at home - we love to teach through play, I always initiate exciting and creative activities that help the children strive towards their full potential. I have grown to love AS-UK so much and I am so grateful to be part of such an amazing team.
